Another week, let’s sum it up. Apple dropped glossy operating system updates on the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. For devices that are not eligible for iOS 16, Apple has also released iOS 15.7. And for iPad users, iPadOS 16 will arrive later, and it was delayed due to issues with the new Stage Manager multitasking feature.
Sony has announced a special edition gaming Xperia 1 IV with 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage and bundled Xperia Stream accessories. The accessory connects to the phone via USB-C and offers a full-size HDMI port along with a LAN port, headphone jack and USB-C port on top.
It doesn’t have any extra buttons or joysticks, so you’re still playing the actual games on the phone screen. The Xperia 1 IV Gaming Edition retails for 175,000 JPY which converts to $1,225 USD. It’s already available on pre-order in Japan from Sony and Docomo.
Apple’s A16 chip was tested on AnTuTu and recorded an impressive 28% improvement in GPU score compared to the A15. Meanwhile, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iPhone 14 Plus shows weaker demand compared to the discontinued iPhone mini series due to lower sales.
Google has teased the upcoming Pixel 7 colors with exotic potato chips in Japan – Snow Cheese is the white (Snow), Hazel onion is the dark sage-slash-Olive (Hazel), the brine is the yellow variant (Lemongrass), and the black pepper is the Obsidian. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are coming October 6.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 200MP sensor was detailed this week. The presence of 0.6 micron pixels on the 1/1.3″ sensor is said to be “100% confirmed” with an f/1.7 aperture on the front.
